Maintain Door Seals

Your fridge door seals sustain an air tight fit between the door and your fridge, keeping the cold air in and warm air out. Over time, food bits or other debris can get stuck in them, which can lead to damage. To keep them working their best, simply wipe them down with a cloth and a gentle cleaning agent at least every six months. This quick clean helps ensure they maintain a tight seal, keeping your food fresh and your energy bills lower.

Sub-Zero Refrigerator Maintenance Tips

Keeping your fridge in top shape goes beyond just cleaning! While wiping it down is a great start, a little extra maintenance can make a big difference in how well it performs and how long it lasts.

Clean the Condenser Coils

The condenser coils are crucial for your fridge's cooling power, so keeping them clean is key! While cleaning might vary depending on your specific unit's cooling system, it's always a good idea to clean them if you can.

Here's how to clean your condenser coils:

  • Unplug the unit from the wall and gently move it so you can easily reach the coils.

  • If the coils are located on the front of the unit, remove the grill to expose them.

  • Grab your vacuum cleaner with the brush attachment and gently run it over the coils to remove dust and debris.

  • You might also need a damp cloth to wipe away any stubborn dust.

Once clean, place the grill back on and plug your unit back in

Check the Thermostat

The thermostat is your fridge's temperature control center. It's a good idea to periodically check that it's giving you accurate readings. Luckily, this is super easy to do! Just place a reliable thermometer inside your fridge and compare its reading to what your fridge's display shows. If your thermometer is showing a higher temperature than the fridge's display, it's a good sign that your thermostat might be faulty and needs attention.
